Kiss My Ass, "Pemco"

I am in a nasty ass mood, foul if you will, and can't think of a worst topic to discuss, insurance. Stopping by to say "Hi!" to parental figures didn't help change my not so charming self. Somehow, someway, (I'm still kicking myself) the conversation turned to "Pemco." (Oh Mr.UPS driver, where is my "I hate Pemco bumper stickers")
It was they whom sung their praises, their glory, and it was I who bought into it. Unfortunately for Ace and I, our premiums have continued to rise while theirs have continued to drop. (somebody's gotta pay for your reductions, eh?) Five years free of any claims, the entire time spent with them. No tickets, close to a fire station, I'm not in the ghetto, I pay my bills, I have excellent credit and minimal debt. I'm American, damit! Questioning their ethics as to how they determine who pays what.
It would be a foolish person whom would suggest to ME, the possibility points were taken away based on occupations. Skydiving demerits... okay... race car driver... well I'm getting that... but sales clerk? Give me a frickin break. I Hate Pemco... I HATE PEMCO... and allow me add one more thing... PEMCO SUCKS!
Oh, and toss in the fact I don't wanna go back... Death before Maggot Foods :(
Slightly irritated, cranky, tear streaked, Farkle
PS: Woot, happy 4th of July, woot... woot

Hi,

I read your blog post about rising premiums and have some thoughts to share. I'm Jon Osterberg and I oversee marketing communications for PEMCO Insurance.

First of all, thank you for being so candid in your blog post. I appreciate feedback like yours, even when it’s from people telling us we’ve disappointed them.

I feel your pain (as a fellow driver) regarding higher rates, especially with the economy as tough as it is. Like with other products and services, there are market factors that affect insurance costs. It's not simply a case of insurers seeking more profit. In fact, mutual insurance companies like PEMCO are owned by their customers, not stockholders, so our responsibility is to do what's right for the customer/owner, not someone on Wall Street. We strive to keep rates low because we want to add customers, not drive them away!

Feel free to contact me at jon.osterberg@pemco.com and I will connect you with someone who can answer questions about your specific situation.

Thanks,
Jon Osterberg

Wow a insurance company that pays attention. Got to admit that doesn't happen every day. All I know is insurance companies are highly regulated and they generally don't jack rates without a reason. Kudos to Jon for responding, and maybe there's more to the story.

Jon, there in nothing more to this story then what I have posted. I appreciate your response, but it doesn't lessen my displeasure with your company any less. Allow me to add some humor to this entire scenario. The second comment came from a fellow Pemco employee. Now that's some funny stuff. :D

Hi again –

I truly am sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience with PEMCO. My offer stands to drop me a note, and I'll do what I can to get answers about your concerns. As a company owned by its customers, we take these things seriously.

I'm also troubled by your second point –- that the post made by “Anonymous” came from within PEMCO. If that’s accurate, that would be a clear violation of our social-media policy of complete transparency. When we engage in conversations online, we follow the highest standard for disclosure. I'm using your observation to remind everyone in our company about our policy. Please accept my apologies on behalf of PEMCO.

Thanks,
Jon Osterberg

Apology accepted. Rest assured, my reputation as a "drama queen" is quite accurate, but liar? I am not.
Thank you for your comments, they seem heartfelt and sincere, but that doesn't change my dissatisfaction with your company. Raising my homeowners $1oo, not inclusive of the earthquake insurance (now) purchased as a separate policy is ridiculous! In the meantime watching family members dropping. They have been longstanding customers of Pemco and it was they whom highly recommended you.
Failure to recognize and reward customers (claim free) such as myself, are a sad commentary as to what Pemco represents.
Five years standing, and no perks, sad...

well said, I too wonder about jacked up rates, having teenage drivers over the years. Seems that every parent has to pay for other parents kids being idiots on the road, mine are both accident and ticket free after many years on the roads, kudos to that. Not all young people are bad drivers.
